Figurative Language

For writing the seniors have been focusing on Figurative Language, for this activity we had to focus on one type of figurative language for the day. Monday was Metaphors. We had to write a metaphor based on different emotions. In my opinion this task was really helpful to me because I now understand the difference between metaphors and similies. Check out my work!

Activity #1: Write a metaphor for each of the following describing words

Words Your Metaphor
Strong He was king kong with his buffness
Angry Steam came out of his ear
Brave She was a warrior
Cheerful His eyes widened when he saw his brother on the field
Scared She froze in her footsteps

white as lime,

they make me milk,

And I do not tell you anymore!

That was Matariki

This week Team Tui or the seniors here at Glen Taylor School had a task to do. Our task was to write a paragraph on Matariki also using our senses. We had a similar writing task like this in Term 1 which was called “That was Summer”. My senses that I have picked to write about were sight, smell, taste and hearing. Then as you can see at the end of each sentence we had to say “That was Matariki” or any other of the stars name. Lastly I found this writing task really fun because my favorite subject is writing and because it was really a time where I could use my imagination and think about what I would do if I was the person in the paragraphs.
